Vegan Beauty brands you need to know about

Vegan Beauty has been a big buzz word in the industry and here are some Vegan Beauty brands you have to know about and try out.

As it is Veganuary, I thought I would change the dialogue and not make it about the food but about beauty. Vegan beauty is a term that is thrown around quite a lot, yet do you know what it means? Do you know the real difference between the terms ‘cruelty free’ and ‘vegan’ as it isn’t actually the same thing.

‘Cruelty free’

To say something is ‘cruelty free’ is to say that the beauty products have not been tested on animals or products that are not sold in countries like Mainland China, where products are animal tested by law. This term however does not cover whether ingredients have come from animals.

Vegan beauty products are not animal tested and the ingredients do not come from animals. Veganism means to live your life in a way that does not exploit or adhere to any forms of cruelty to animals.

I hope that helps clear a few things up. It is difficult to know as retailers often band about the term vegan beauty and the amount of emails I receive every single January claiming they are selling vegan beauty is ridiculous. It is important to do your own research so you know which brands are both cruelty free and vegan.

Here are just a few beauty brands that I have found are both cruelty free and vegan:

bareMinerals is a brand that puts its values where its mouth is. Not only is the brand vegan but it is also cruelty free, not testing on animals at all. All their products do not contain any preservatives, oils or any artificial products. I love their mascaras and their Complexion Rescue Tinted Foundation is one my absolute hero products for the summer.

NYX Cosmetics

NYX Cosmetics is one my absolute favourite beauty brands out there, so to know that it is vegan and cruelty free makes me so so happy. It is loved by make-up artists and beauty influencers everywhere and I really rate the brand for being so inclusive. It also has such an affordable price point for make-up so you can really experiment with their products.

KVD Vegan Beauty

If there ever was a beauty brand that had more controversy attached to it, it would be KVD Vegan Beauty. However, ever since its original founder left, KVD has changes to stand for Kindness, Vegan Beauty and Discovery (and doing good). The brand continues to be dedicated to vegan beauty and being cruelty free, lucky for us as we continue to love the products.

e.l.f Cosmetics

e.l.f Cosmetics has to be one of the most underrated beauty brands out there. Not only because they have been committed to vegan and cruelty free beauty from day one, they are also inexpensive yet beautifully made products. I love their primers and the face powders, easy to use and so lightweight on the skin.
