When Mayfield Lavender introduced afternoon tea into the experience, I had to go and try it and luckily, I was surprised for my birthday with the tea!
I was desperate to try out the Mayfield Lavender afternoon tea and my husband kindly surprised me with one on my birthday. We ventured down to Surrey to the gorgeous lavender fields and arrived on a busy afternoon. We wandered around the fields, smelling the gorgeous lavender and taking about a thousand photos. It was actually so so pretty and despite my bout of hayfever, I was determined to enjoy it.
We headed to the restaurant and showed the team our afternoon tea experience. We were sat in the reserved section and waited for our afternoon tea to arrive whilst enjoying the gorgeous views of the lavender fields.
The afternoon tea arrived on a little high table with cute touches of lavender all around the box. I had cheese and pickle sandwiches, crisps, lavender scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, lavender cupcake and a lavender scone. The sandwiches were rather dry but the rest of the afternoon tea remained faithful to the lavender theme. The scones didn’t need to lavender and in fact, it was too strong and it wasn’t very tasty either. Lavender worked well inside the cake and the macaroon instead, helping stave off some of the sweeter tastes of both the items.
Once we finished the afternoon tea, I was treated to a tractor cart ride around the lavender fields. I took my lavender lemonade with me onto the cart and watched the fields go by. I had a lovely time at Mayfield Lavender farm and would highly recommend it to anyone considering it.
