L’Oreal x Balmain has to be one of the most exciting beauty collaborations of the year. Not only has the ad campaigns been starring the hottest models, the packaging for the lipsticks has been super slick and sexy. When I opened the Harvey Nichols box, I was taken aback by how luxurious the lipsticks looked and felt.
I love the marble packaging and the colours are just amazing. I made sure I got at least one each colour way or tribe as Balmain calls them, to see how beautiful the lipsticks were in real life.
From left to right: L’Oreal x Balmain Lipsticks in Urban Safari, Glamazone, Power and Domination
So in an ideal world, I would have bought all of the collection to swatch but sadly I can’t afford that so I bought the four shades that I thought would suit me most.
L’Oreal x Balmain in Urban Safari
So it is clear to see that Urban Safari is not my colour. The colour washes me out and really doesn’t suit me but the formula on the lipsticks is great. It is rich and hydrating, goes on with one swipe. I will try using this lipstick layered with a pink shade to make it a more pinkish nude.
L’Oreal x Balmain in Glamazone
Glamazone has to be one of the most drastic shades that I bought and I have to say that I don’t hate it. It is a khaki shade but with the right make up and outfit, I could definitely see it working as a winter shade. I love the fact that it has a brown undertone so it makes it wearable.
L’Oreal x Balmain in Power
Power is the darkest brown in the collection, it is again more dramatic than I would traditionally wear but I actually really like it. It has the all the drama in the colour but you could definitely mix it up with red, to make it more of an oxblood colour.
L’Oreal x Balmain in Domination
Those of you who know me, know how much I love a good red lip and this collection has definitely come through with this beautiful red shade. Domination is my favourite from all of them and it is stunning on, with the blue undertone that I look for in a quality lipstick.
