With the current lockdown, it does seem like Christmas will be very much a home affair. Here are five ways you can prepare for a Christmas at home.
Christmas is always such a happy festive time, and a good time for everyone to catch up with their loved ones and spend time with each other. Sadly, due to the current pandemic, this year is going to very different and we won’t be able to see all our loved ones like we normally would. I am completely gutted by this year, it has been disappointing in every way and the fact it is taking Christmas away from me annoys me just as much as the next person. So I have resigned myself to the reality that I will be spending Christmas at home, like I have been this whole year.
Here are five ways you can prepare for Christmas at home:
Decorate as festive as possible
This year we have all seen the insides of our homes more than we ever have done in our lives. This also means that everyone has dusted off their Christmas tree earlier than usual. So this year, why not go a la the Who village in The Grinch (I have seen the movie five times already due to my baby!) and decorate with all the lights and decorations. Set a budget, invest in some new decorations and have at it.
Order your Christmas food early
Christmas is always an excuse indulge and this year, I have to say the supermarkets have outdone themselves. Whether it is the Marks & Spencers or Aldi’s Christmas menu that takes your fancy, plan out that menu and work out what you will be eating. I am secretly in love with the Aldi Chocolate Bombe and that will definitely be gracing my table.
Do your Christmas shopping online
There is a certain thrill attached to Christmas shopping and I have to say, I love it. I love the buzz, the hot chocolate breaks and imagining how my loved one will react when they receive my gift. This is where Moonpig comes in. I love Moonpig, it gives me the ability to personalised my gifts and I think it makes them extra special. Moonpig offers such a vast range of gifts, whether it be flowers, a Nutcracker treat tin, a Christmas cracker filled with OPI nail varnishes or some Sanctuary spa goodies, there is literally something for everyone. Best of all, they can be delivered directly to your loved ones door, just in time for Christmas.
Host a virtual party
Just because we can’t get together with our friends and family, doesn’t stop us from seeing them. Zoom has become my new home when it comes to catching up with people and this Christmas, I will be planning catch ups on there and who knows, having some Christmas fun and games on there too.
Watch ALL the Christmas movies
I love a Christmas movie, they just make me so happy and I feel like a five year old again every time I see one. I love the fact they all have a happy ending and all the songs, I love a good Christmas song. You have to see my Netflix and Amazon Prime playlist filled with all the cheesy Christmas movies.
No matter how you are planning to spend your Christmas, this year’s will be a quiet one but try and enjoy it. Use it to feel grateful for the loved ones we have around us and have a happy and safe holiday.
