When it comes afternoon tea, the last place I would think of is Marks and Spencer and it was a complete surprise to me too! I went to the M&S Cafe in Westfield Stratford which overlooks the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and was really impressed. As I was queuing to order my food, I spotted their afternoon tea being advertised as being £12 for two people. I love afternoon tea so I jumped at the chance to try it and at that price, I was not expecting much.
Though an M&S Cafe is not somewhere you would associate as a place to have afternoon tea, I was surprised by the fact the tea arrived on the traditional cake tier and came with a teapot full of tea. The sandwiches were really lovely, in traditional flavours but still tasty all the same. Though we didn’t freshly baked scones, we got one large scone each which had been warmed up for us and came with a pot of strawberry jam and clotted cream. Desserts were two cupcakes and a macaroon. Granted that this was not as fancy as the Ritz, it still had the elements of afternoon that I love and that price, it was definitely a great budget afternoon tea.

I hope you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to come back tomorrow for another afternoon tea review.
