Last week, i was very kindly invited by the Boohoo team to their Autumn/Winter 17 press day being held at The Vinyl Factory in Soho. Those of you who don’t know what a press day is, it is an occasion where brand (beauty, fashion or otherwise) show off their new collection for the upcoming season and give press, bloggers and buyers to get a sneak peek to see what is coming up. This was my first time attending a Boohoo press day and i really enjoyed it. I was welcome into the venue with a drink from the free bar, they even had Mocktails and then offered a meringue from the Meringue Girl. The music was loud so there was definitely a party vibe as drifted through to the rails of gorgeous clothes.
The bomber jackets are here to stay
One of the first things that struck me about the Boohoo collection is how edgy it is but at the same, incredibly wearable. I am a rather safe dresser but the upcoming collection has some great one off statement pieces and they are made really well. Boohoo is one of those great brands that do cater for everyone’s style and this fact is what has kept it so popular among people of all ages.
This reminded me so much of a dress that i had when i was younger that i had to take a photo!
As i wandered through the space, i was struck by how transitional trends from the summer are going to be. I love the fact that the embroidery trend is here to stay and that was still prevalent on most items of clothing including shoes. More on shoes in a moment. There were some gorgeous coats including biker coats made completely out of faux fur in pastel colours which i thought was a fun look for the winter months if you want something different. Lace dresses were still there with embroidered panelling. Bomber jackets are still in and bigger and longer than ever.
Boohoo have really upped their game for the upcoming season when it comes to their shoes and accessories. These were my favourite part of the whole collection. I loved the embroidered boots and pearl mules, i can just see myself wearing them as a statement piece with ripped skinny jeans and a big knit. The insect motif shoes and bags are here to stay from the summer and will be around for the next season for definite.
The news of Boohoo taking over Nasty Gal were met with mixed reactions by the fashion crowd but the way they were displayed at the press day shows that Nasty Gal is clearly going to stay as its own entity. There are some lovely dresses to watch out for in the collection and those embroidered leather jackets are going to transition into Autumn.
I had to say a quick word about their lovely new lingerie collection, it definitely screams bridal trousseau. The lace it to die for and i love the frills on the nightwear too.
I had a great time at the Boohoo Press Day and it was such a pleasure to see all the trends before they go live online later on this year. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Boohoo team for inviting me.
I hope you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to like this post or follow my blog if you did.
