The Bentley Hotel London near Gloucester Road has one of the most popular afternoon teas, it offers a budget friendly tea in a luxury setting.
The Bentley Hotel London is one afternoon tea that is always on a coupon site but promises to be a luxury afternoon tea experience, budget friendly and in a lovely traditional setting. Entering the hotel, you are struck by the beautiful lobby complete with chandeliers and velvet covered seats. You are immediately invited to walk through to the restaurant to the afternoon tea. Once seated, we were asked about our dietary requirements and I requested my vegetarian afternoon tea and Jasmine green tea.
Our tea and food arrived quickly and we settled down to the afternoon tea. The sandwiches were traditional like cheese ploughman’s and cucumber and cheese which were finger sized and easy to eat. The scones were warm when they arrived but what let them down was the clotted cream and jam which were clearly not homemade. The desserts were saccharine sweet and not really my cup of tea (pardon the pun) but we ate them anyway, nibbling on the mouse and pastries accompanied by our green teas.
Not every afternoon tea is the best of experiences and the one at The Bentley Hotel London was not the best. The service was messy and the staff seemed inexperienced. The hotel’s cleanliness was not the best and it did seem like the afternoon tea was hurried and not made with much thought.
