SCOOP: UK’s first Ice Cream Museum

SCOOP is the UK’s first immersive ice cream museum in London and celebrates the sweet icey goodness, inviting visitors to plunge into the pastel coloured world of one of the best desserts.

When I first heard about an ice cream museum coming to London, I was so excited. SCOOP is the British Museum of Food’s first major exhibition and it celebrates ice cream by showing off all the fun and innovative ways it has made us fall in love with the cool deliciousness. There is daffodil flavoured ice cream dating back to the 1700s, fizzy popping ice cream and glow in the dark ice cream that you can devour in a dark cave.

You are shown in to the Electric Wafer Cinema with a video about how the items in the collection were acquired before you enter into a fridge through a fridge door. The room holds 800 years of cold ice history and how it became history within humankind. This is just a flavour of the kind of experiences I went through at SCOOP. My personal favourite was the Marshall’s School of Cookery where I got to make my own popcorn caramel ice cream, mixing in ice cream flavours, cream and cold hard ice.

I found the whole ice cream exhibition a deeply interesting experience. It was fun to find out the more serious side of ice cream and discover more about process that goes behind the frozen goodness.

I hope you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to give my blog a follow if you did,
