When Chanel decides to launch a new perfume, the world has to stand up and take notice. Gabrielle Chanel is the brands first perfume in 15 years with and to mark the occasion, Chanel launched a pop up in Mayfair showing off the new fragrance. I have a bit of a confession to make, I have never been a huge Chanel fragrance fan. They are just not made for someone like me, I am not a big fan of floral perfumes and Chanel favours these.
Chanel’s pop up store is in Mayfair and it is beautifully decorated in the brand’s aesthetic. When we arrived, we were told that we would be taken up to the perfume workshop. Love her or hate her, Kristen Stewart is the face of the fragrance and we were told that her profile matched Coco Chanel’s face.
We were shown the Gabrielle Chanel advert which showed us the moodiness and dramatic nature of fragrance before we had even smelt it. On the table, we had a full size Gabrielle Chanel bottle for us to smell, a Chanel badge and a small version of the fragrance for us to take away. The host of the class explained that the fragrance took a long time to make as Chanel wanted to make it perfect. We were invited to hold the bottle with the lid of the perfume being embossed with the Chanel logo.
We were then blindfolded and were told to smell each note of the perfume separately first. The notes in the Chanel perfume are:
- Ylang Ylang
- Orange Blossom Fruit
- Tubarose Fruit
The smells were beautiful and when fanned together, helped us smell the rawest version of the perfume before we smelt the actual perfume. I was blown away by fragrance when I actually smelt it, it is amazing. It had the floral understones but it also had the fresh muskiness that I love in perfume. I spritzed myself in the stuff immediately.
I had an amazing time at the Chanel pop up and it honestly is an amazing perfume, I would love to get this over Christmas.
