MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in ‘Fashion Legacy’

It has been a long time since i have fallen for a product this hard but honestly this has got to be probably the best launch MAC has made yet. When i heard about the liquid lipsticks being launched last year, i was so excited but the offerings from other brands that i had tried were not suiting my skin tone very well. They seemed to go on quite thick and i didn’t like the feeling that there was something on my lips all the time.

On a random day wandering through beauty counters in Fenwick Bond Street, i discovered the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour and i had to try it. I love MAC’s Lipstick in Ruby Woo but in the winter months, it can be quite drying on my lips. Therefore, i asked for a shade similar to this, wondering if the liquid lipstick version would be any better.

MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Follow Your Heart’

The minute i applied the tester for the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor, i was in love. It goes on so easily, the consistency is just right for it to cling to your lips rather than move around. I tried the MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Follow Your Heart’ to line my lips to keep the shape of my lips and voila, i had beautiful scarlett red lips. The formula for the lipstick so once it is on, it will not move and it dries matte. I wore this all day walking around Oxford Street and drank my hot chocolate and had lunch, but no way did this lipstick show any wear or tear. The formula is also incredibly hydrating so there is no way your lips will feel dry and flaky in the cold weather.

The picture above was taken at the end of the day when i got home so you can tell that the lipstick had stayed put. The applicator of the lipstick is quite broad so you can easily get the product on your lips. I honestly love this lipstick but sadly a lot of the other shades were sold out in the MAC stores around me but i hope to get my hands on some more in the coming months.

There are 15 shades in total varying in different tones:

  • Fashion Legacy
  • Feels So Grand
  • High Drama
  • Dance with Me
  • Lady-Be-Good
  • Tailored to Tease
  • Oh, Lady
  • Recollection
  • Quite the Standout
  • To Matte With Love
  • Personal Statement
  • Divine-Divine
  • Mademoiselle
  • Back in Vogue
  • Rich & Restless

Some of them are quite daring in colours so be careful when you are buying them. I want to get some of the deeper reds and pinks but will just have to wait till they come back into stock.

I think it depends on the individual. I layered so lip balm underneath and then wore it on top and it lasted all day.
